"Problem Solved"

The Brief

The brief for this project was to create a 3D motion graphic ident for the Communication Design website “Grayscale”. Grayscale is a website that represents the various courses of the Communication Design programme; as such it was important to show the core values of the courses. The values being: creativity, diversity, teamwork and problem solving.

Rationale

The motion graphic makes use of “Tetris” block style animation to represent these messages. The colours represent the variety and vibrancy of the courses and the bricks all fit together perfectly, representing team work and most crucially: solutions.

Backstory

One of the biggest challenges with this brief was that the Grayscale logo is based on the “Penrose triangle” which is an impossible shape. As such perspective had to be used to trick the viewer into thinking the logo was connected when it isn’t, the back or farthest part of the 3D logo is actually slightly larger than the front. The music used is a Daft Punk song called which is exciting and reflects the vibrancy of the work.
